A complete BST is composed of 5 modules including First Aid, Work at Height, Sea Survival, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness. The training purpose is to provide basic safety awareness and training for all wind farm personnels.
Students must fully participate in all courses to meet the GWO standard’s number of class hours and pass the assessment for both written and operating examination before they obtain the certificate. License is valid for 2 years and students should take BSTR refresh courses within 2 months before expiry date for 2 years extension.
First Aid (FA)
Basic first aid training designed for wind farm personnels to ensure that they still have basic first aid knowledge and operational experiences to minimize accidental impacts when the wind farm is located in a remote location. The course content includes injury examination, trauma treatment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), etc., and wind field elements are used as practical exercises.
Manual Handling (MH)
Through course theory and practical exercises, wind farm personnels get the knowledge of using body structure and strength correctly. They will also learn to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and perform work tasks in a safe manner.
Fire Awareness (FAW)
Due to the remote locations of many wind farms, which are not easily accessible for firefighting and rescue operations Wind farm personnels need to have an excellent understanding of fire scenarios to prevent fires and know how to respond if a fire occurs. The course content includes basic concepts of fire scenarios as well as practical fire extinguishing techniques.
Immersive VR fire safety training is revolutionising how we prepare for emergencies. By donning a VR headset, trainees are transported to incredibly realistic virtual environments where they can safely experience and respond to a variety of fire scenarios. This cutting-edge technology allows for repeated practice, personalized feedback, and risk-free exploration of crucial decision-making during high-stress situations, ultimately leading to more effective learning and improved safety outcomes in the real world.
Working at Heights (WAH)
Working at height is a common working environment in wind farms, such as climbing ladders and working on platforms. Working at heights requires professional knowledge and operating skills. As the highest threshold among all courses, it is also the field that most people are least exposed to. The course content includes knowledge of personal safety equipment for high-altitude operations, regulatory requirements for high-altitude operations, evacuation technical operations, and rescue scenario drills.
Sea Survival (SS)
This course is an essential course for personnels working in offshore wind farms. The course content includes the correct donning and doffing of life jackets, marine evacuation concepts and techniques, as well as real-life drills on personnel transfers between offshore wind farms and traffic vessels.
